The library of Pallas University of Applied Sciences (Pallas) and Tartu Art School (TK), or Pallas Library in short, is mainly an art library. The collection primarily consists of literature on art, design and restoration/conservation based on the curricula of the two schools, as well as specialist periodicals in foreign languages. Due to the specialized departments and fields of study, the collection is largely made up of literature related to fine art, photography, media and advertising art, textile and fashion design, furniture and interior design, painting and restoration, sculpture and leather design, book binding, and art theory.
Most of the library materials are in English and in just one edition. Additionally, the collection includes digital materials related to the study fields. A unique part of the collection are final thesis portfolios and professional study materials.
The library has a cozy study environment for 16 readers and with 4 computer workstations, a seminar room that fits up to 10 people and an archive. In addition, the library hosts training and information sessions, exhibitions, lectures and themed events for readers.
The Pallas Library is one of the founding members of the The Society of Estonian Art Libraries and is in active cooperation with all Estonian and optionally foreign art libraries. There is an exchange of information with the other libraries belonging to the Society and a cross-service between libraries.
