HAA Gallery presents an Estonian artist group

On Thursday 26.11 the exhibition TRACK – PallasArt Estonia Group opens in Helsinki Artists’ Association’s HAA Gallery to present the works of the Estonian artist group PallasArt Estonia. Displayed are mainly new paintings and sculptures by Heli Tuksam, Sirje Petersen, Tuuli Puhvel, Niina Freiberg, Per William Petersen, Eero Ijavoinen and Kaspar Tamsalu. ”Pallas” in the group name refers to Pallas University of Applied Sciences, to which all the presented artists are somehow connected. The artists are also all members of Tartu Artists’ Union. The art of all seven artists in TRACK explore the relation to the self and the environment. The exhibition title may according to the artists be interpreted freely, or be understood to reflect memories, the past, the ecological footprint or emotion. The artist group has organised many group exhibitions and each several private exhibitions. Their works have been exhibited internationally in Germany, Czech Republic, Lithuania and Denmark. In Finland, PallasArt Estonia Group has previously shown their works in Tampere and Imatra.

Heli Tuksam, painter and stained glass artist, has worked as a professional artist since 1985, when she graduated f rom the Estonian Art Academy. In TRACK, Tuksam’s works build on thoughts about nature and the sensitive balance of life.

Sirje Petersen, painter and arts educator, began her artistic career in the 1980s with figurative and abstract art, and has since become a known painter in Estonia. With the displayed works Petersen continutes her exploration of herself.

Tuuli Puhvel, painter and stained glass artist, approaches art as an adventure, which result is not initially known. The exhibition shows Puhvel’s watercolours.

Niina Freiberg, painter and arts educator, expresses poetic thoughts and things she has seen. To HAA Gallery she brings works in ink.

Kaspar Tamsalu, painter, graduated f rom the Russian Repin Institute in 2012 and the Estonian Art Academy in 2015. Tamsalu observes the environment and the displayed works particularly express the artist’s own neighbourhood.

Per William Petersen, a Danish visual artist, has worked as an artist in Estonia since 2006 and is the member of the Estonian Artists’ Assocation, Tartu Artists’ Union and the Estonian Sculp-tures’ Union. Petersen works across the arts; to HAA Gallery he brings sculptures.

Eero Ijavoinen, painter and sculptor, is an arts educator schooled in Tallinn. HAA Gallery pre-sents Ijavoinen’s abstract paintings of nature and sculptures based on living creatures.

Opening: Welcome to the opening on Wednesday 25.11. 4–7 pm. Some of the artists will be present until 5.30 pm.
