Sensing the Weight, Searching for Relief. Joint Exhibition by Textile Students of Pallas UAS
November 28, 2025 – January 3, 2026

On 28 November at 5PM the joint exhibition “Sensing the Weight, Searching for Relief” by third-year students of the Department of Textile of Pallas University of Applied Sciences will open at gallery Pallas. The exhibition was created as part of the course “Contemporary Textile Art” under the guidance of sculptor Eike Eplik.

“Some moments feel so heavy that it seems they will last forever. And sometimes things are very good, yet deep down you know it won’t stay that way. And then there are all the moments in between. How do we cope with all of this and preserve our human dignity so that we can keep moving forward?” reflect the young textile artists participating in the exhibition.

In their works, the students draw from personal experiences that are connected by themes of mental resilience. According to the students, the feminine and empathy-valuing atmosphere of the Textile Department supports the understanding that sharing emotions and difficulties is human and completely normal, not a sign of weakness.

Emily Dobrus aims to encourage the viewer to contemplate the beauty of the passage of time. Leena Isabel Pizzolante explores light and its significance during a season dominated by darkness. Mari Saffre studies the relationship between humans and sacred objects, offering a place of sanctuary to those who need it. Johanna Tuisk invites visitors into a grain field whose minimalist landscape offers sensory calm. Darja Zaboronok draws attention to premenstrual dysphoric disorder, which can have a strong impact on a person’s psyche. Tiina Zukker searches for ways to resolve the haunting and limiting thoughts that prevent her from moving forward.

“Sensing the Weight, Searching for Relief” is open in the Gallery Pallas project space until January 3, 2026.
An artist tour and discussion will take place on 13th December at 15:00.
