DEPARTMENT OF TEXTILE

The curriculum of textile was formed in 1993, the founder and major developer of the department is the current head of the department, Professor Aet Ollisaar.

 


The aim of the department is to develop the field of textile art and design in Estonia. The curriculum is broad and includes courses in fashion. The focus of the curriculum is both on individual skills as well as cross-disciplinary collaboration. The students have the possibility to participate in different projects and acquire additional skills both in Estonia and abroad. Started on the initiative of the students, the department continuously organises the fashion project Fashion-Performance-Dance, in collaboration with the Department of Furniture, students participate on international trade shows in Stockholm and London.

Graduates of the department actively pursue post-graduate studies and start their own enterprises.

LECTURERS

Over the years various faculty from Estonia and abroad have supervised students: Anu Raud, Eva Jakovits, Monika Järg, Piret Valk, Keret Altpere, Maarja Tamjärv, Vaike Reemann, Signe Kivi, Anu Samarüütel, Juha Laurikainen, Tiina Karhu, Kaisa Klemola, Monika Zaltauskaite-Grasiene, Annika Ekdahl, Wlodzimierz Cygan and many others. Principal faculty of the department include docent Kadi Pajupuu, Kristina Paju, Katrin Trumm, Liina Kool, Veinika Västrik and Marju Roos.
