From Wednesday, 12 August, the book exhibition \u201cSpiral-Bound Learning Outcomes\u201d can once again be discovered at Gallery Pallas. The exhibition features works created by first-year students from the departments of Photography, Media Design, Textile, and Leather Design of Pallas University of Applied Sciences during the 2025\/2026 academic year.
As part of the course \u201cComposition and Colour Theory\u201d, taught by Imbi Kruuv, students from four different departments independently completed a creative assignment entitled \u201cBook\u201d. The starting point was defined by a set of guidelines: the finished work had to include an opening or cut-out offering different viewpoints, a tactile or foldable element, a variety of materials, and follow a prescribed format. The book\u2019s concept had to reflect either the course programme, a specific assignment, or the completed creative work. This is how the course\u2019s learning outcomes came to be spiral-bound.
The books created by Pallas first-year students were transformed into an exhibition dedicated to the Year of the Estonian Book under the artistic direction of lecturer Imbi Kruuv and designer Madis Liplap.
\u201cThis delightful exhibition has spread itself out in several different locations. It was first displayed at Pallas UAS during the assessment period in January, then at the Pallas library, followed by the L\u00e4\u00e4ne County Central Library in April and the P\u00e4rnu Central Library for a month in May. And now it is back in Tartu!\u201d says Imbi Kruuv, describing the exhibition\u2019s journey.
