The joint exhibition EVERYTHING IS STILL SOMEWHERE by Aet Ollisaar, Tuuli Puhvel, and Heli Tuksam will open in the main hall of Gallery Pallas on Thursday, 9 July, at 5:00 p.m.
Thirty years ago, three women artists—close friends and lecturers at the art school—decided to create an exhibition together. Since then, the artists have pursued their individual practices while also meeting through collaborative exhibitions, remaining connected for decades through their teaching at Pallas. The exhibition at Gallery Pallas brings their work together once again in a shared space. Although each artist has a distinct visual language, they are united by a similar worldview. Their shared values and recurring themes are reflected and amplified through the dialogues created within the exhibition space. The exhibition design encourages viewers to experience the works from a distance, creating harmony with the artists’ long-standing creative journeys, developed both together and in parallel.
Aet Ollisaar:
“Everything that touches me inspires me. A particular moment, a person, a light, or a sound may linger in my memory and find a new context in the next work. First, the captured flash of thought becomes visible as colour; then forms and materials come into play, and together they create a unified whole.”
Heli Tuksam:
“Life itself is an inexhaustible source of inspiration. As an artist, I look at the surrounding trees and shrubs, clouds and landscapes, mosses and flowers with wide-open eyes. At different stages of my life, I have lived immersed in nature and experienced the changing seasons and their rhythms. It is important to me that this connection remains unbroken.”
Tuuli Puhvel:
“Nature, in all its wild abundance, is my greatest source of inspiration. I am deeply connected to plants and trees and observing them brings me both peace of mind and creative ideas. I have spent hours outdoors with watercolours or a pot of ink, trying to capture an apple blossom or a sprig of borage on paper. The ink paintings of the old Chinese and Japanese masters have undoubtedly had a profound influence on my sense of composition.”
The exhibition is curated and designed by Madis Liplap, who has collaborated over the years on both the individual and joint exhibitions of Ollisaar, Puhvel, and Tuksam, bringing his own perspective to the trio’s artistic practice.
